Let Them Eat Cake

So the Yankees hammered the Red Sox and the Dodgers nailed the Braves with a walk-off home run (we were at the stadium to see it), and at 11:30 pm we blew out the candle on a vanilla/vanilla cupcake. Standing in the backyard under the full moon, Sharon and I each made a wish and sent off a prayer, thinking of you. I'm going to follow the Chinese custom of leaving this food out for your ghost, to provide spiritual nourishment on your journey where I cannot yet follow.

Happy Birthday, Daddy. I love you.

I miss talking baseball with Greg. I still want to call him or e-mail him -- That Dodgers/Braves series was definitely one of those times (now that Atlanta's my local team). -- After his first operation, when he couldn't really talk, I loved that, by e-mail, he was able to rant, and I mean rant, about how awful Andruw Jones was on the Dodgers. And with the Dodgers being so dominant this year, I'm often thinking of how much Greg would have enjoyed that. -- When I left for L.A., you guys gave me a Starbucks certificate -- and I got a really big baseball coffee mug with it. I use it all the time and think of all of you.

Love,
Rob Fieldsteel

another milestone. happy anniversary to my true love. 37 years ago today I was a young bride marrying my soulmate.....even then, against all odds, we knew. I will be forever grateful for the journey we shared. "love knows no boundaries, love never dies"...........I love you Gregory Dean Suddeth.....forever.

tomorrow is our baby girl's 27th birthday....that is amazing! I have spent a lot of time this week, remembering our anticipation while waiting for Megan Maxine to be born.....and remembering how Greg, "mr-I-don't-know-about-having-kids", reacted when his daughter was born....sheer and total joy and love from minute one. She captivated him, amazed him, and by his own admission, made him a better man. He adored her, not for all her accomplishments and the things that are easy to love in a daughter, but for her "old soul" depth of life and just for who she is. He was a fiercely loyal father, even in the darkest times, and I find comfort in knowing he will ALWAYS be watching over her, she will always be surrounded by his love. Happy Birthday, Max.
